Testimonials of people who lost weight without using
diet, exercise programs, nor feeling deprived

The following case studies relate stories of people who have used the same approach
that we use in our Lose Weight With Your Mind seminar.
Their stories have been reported in the EFT international newsletter of Gary Craig
(founder of EFT) and have all been to Dr. Carol Look’s EFT seminars.

One of the powerful techniques we use in our Losing Weight With Your Mind
Seminar, is called EFT
(Emotional Freedom Techniques. It is based on the fact that
touch is soothing. We have comfort touch that we use automatically when stress arises.
For example, we often touch our forehead, our chest, our cheeks… We may even tap on
someone’s shoulder, etc.

Well, we often touch or lightly tap on those areas to comfort ourselves or
someone else.
American psychologists and personal coaches are now using these new
powerful techniques engaging the wisdom of the body to help us naturally comfort
ourselves and neutralize negative emotions such as stress, anxiety, and cravings. Since
emotions are often at the root of overeating, it is becoming an essential part of cutting
edge weight loss programs in the United States and Europe.

Ann has lost 30 pounds since taking her first EFT for weight workshop. Ann
attended the seminar because she had seen her weight creep up over the last decade or
so, and was struggling with severely depleted energy. Ann reduced her addictive urges
and cleared many underlying feelings at the root of her cravings. Mary returned home
after the seminar feeling motivated and back in control. She lost 30 pounds over a 4-
month period and then unfortunately, three very stressful events happened in her life.
Despite the stress, Ann was able to easily maintain her 30-pound weight loss. She
resumed losing weight five months later, as soon as she began using EFT again.”

Gail has lost 110 pounds in 6 months and has maintained her new weight
using EFT.
Gail, over the past 30 years, has been a yo-yo dieter. “ I actually added up
that I have gained and lost approximately 1000 pounds in my lifetime. I was bulimic in my
twenties and had tried everything at one time or another.

I have been on every diet food plan and exercise plan out there. My first time
joining Weight Watchers was when I was 13. I have been a member of WW six times
since then. I have tried the no-carb, low-carb, low-fat, high protein, the balancing
programs like the Zone, the “Prozac Not Potatoes” book…everything. I tried following
rules (no eating after 7:00pm, controlling portion size, eating slowly, not eating in the
car, keeping food journals, calling someone else to tell them what I ate) and none of that
worked either.

I have literally boxes of books on food, weight, and exercise—I’ve tried every
approach that has ever been written. I’ve had my ears stapled, I’ve been hypnotized, I’
ve been to nutritionists, I’ve had hair analysis, taken supplements. I’ve been on weight
loss pills, the Phen-Phen craze. I’ve tried fasting, and all of the exercise programs. And I
had horrible effects of feeling terrible and gaining even more weight back, so I ended up
heavier than when I started. I was never able to follow through, and as a result, I felt so
much self-loathing. I really was a failure in this area.

What made her relapse and not stick to any of these plans, she explains to
Dr. Carol Look, is anxiety:
“I felt anxious about restricting my food. I felt like I was
holding my breath under water and it was only a matter of time before I had to come up
for air and start binge eating again.  Also, I was a people pleaser and a highly sensitive
person, and I could not manage my emotions when I wasn’t overeating. I simply couldn’t
handle all the anxiety.

Gail answers Dr. Look’s question on the effect of EFT on her success: “
Yes, not only
EFT contributed, but was the most critical piece of all.
I even would become
resentful thinking if couldn’t be this easy. After all, I had spent years trying as hard as I
could, and struggling and hating myself for all my failures. EFT worked in spite of my
disbelief and even when I was resistant.”
Gail goes on, “I had a decade of talk therapy and 10 years in Overeaters Anonymous,
and
I was never able to feel good after a session the way I was after an EFT
session with you.

Some of the toughest themes we worked on were the family issues. I feared I
would have to leave my family because they needed me to be sick. So if I got over my
weight problem, I wouldn’t belong with them anymore.”

Gail shares, “I also had a major fear of intimacy. I knew that if I lost weight, I’d
get into another relationship. I was terrified that I couldn’t have enough good
boundaries in a new relationship. I never had before. “
“Also,” Gail says, “I got motivated with exercise. I was never ever able to stick with a
program. Now I look forward to going to the gym.

Gail adds, "I remember treating and dissolving with EFT the incredible self-
loathing and feeling of being a failure,
feeling of unworthiness, feeling that I did
not deserve to relax, feeling unlovable unless I’m doing something, and feeling like I
never fit in. I was shocked at how much healing was accomplished in such a short
amount of time.”

Gail goes on saying;
“the amazing thing is that for the most part, I haven’t’ felt
like binge eating at all. It’s not what I want to do.
It’s the first time in my life I
haven’t focused on food. You got me focus on feelings instead.

Now everyone ask me what food plan or diet I went on and they won’t
believe me when I tell them I refused to restrict my meals and haven’t’ been
on any kind of a diet in the past year!
“I know that none of the other things---like
gym and refusing diet—would have fallen into place if it weren’t for using EFT.” (Gail) http:

Ann, a bright, experienced, successful psychologist with years of professional
psychological experience and self-exploration, came to an EFT workshop for
weight.
She was able to identify the source of her emotional resistance to picturing herself
successfully reaching her desired goal weight. She revealed that she associated reaching
her goal weight with her first marriage which had ended quite painfully. She was quite
surprised by this revelation, and was “blown away” by the previously unrecognized
emotional issues that were revealed by using EFT.

Jane lost 5 pounds in one month. Jan, used EFT for her chocolate cravings, and her
feelings of being deprived, but it wasn’t before she treated feeling unsafe leaving her
comfort zone, that she began to shed the pounds.

John came to private EFT sessions, he worked on how his father hated fat people and
how he ate sweets to help him feel better, etc. When John came back for his second
session, 2 weeks later,
he had lost at least 5 pounds. He had been eliminating his
cravings along the way, and his general anxiety.

Beth has lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks and has stuck to her diet since. Beth
volunteered in a group involving visualizing herself at her weight goal. She had made an
association between her weight and being pregnant. She worked on how her body
wanted to hold on the weight. She also eliminated her dread for exercising.

Sharon lost 7 pounds and the body shame is gone. Sharon came to a workshop
and volunteered during the “body image” portion of the workshop. Sharon remembered
being shamed about her body in high School and realized that she had been affected by
this remark all her life. And unearthing and treating that shaming incident made a huge
difference.
Sharon is now working longer at the gym and loving it. She is excited about the workout
now. The cravings in general are gone, “I no longer feel the pressure that I have to lose
weight, it feels like a choice!!!” she says.

Patti lost 9 pounds after she participated in an EFT workshop but now was
reaching a plateau. So she asked for private sessions. Feelings about family members
were actually contributing to the plateau. She admitted she felt guilty losing the weight
because her mother was overweight. In fact her mother was anxious and uptight , tried
to ‘feed’ her and gave her extra calorie food.
She realized she was sabotaging her weight loss to protect herself from her mother and
her success. She treated it with EFT, and quickly felt that she could succeed without her
mother’s support. She also cleared the fear to gain the weight back, the struggle about
losing weight, etc…At the second session she had lost an extra 3 pounds. At her fourth
session, she had lost and maintained a reduction of 20 pounds in weight.

Janet and her husband went to an EFT for Weight Workshop and lost 52 and
60 pounds respectively in 9 months and maintaining their new weight!.
She
worked with her husband to help her lose weight and “the pounds began to come off,”
Janet said, “and the wonderful part is that there was no diet to follow, no deprivation, no
feeling sorry for myself because I was ‘dieting’ because I wasn’t! The only thing I stayed
away from was the junky stuff and even now, I sometimes have those darn chips but don’
t go overboard on them.”
“I can’t thank you enough. EFT has made it possible for me to feel good about myself
again, to see life through different eyes. With the help from EFT for both physical and
emotional problems, I have a whole new life. I have lost 52 pounds of me and intend to
lose 30 or so pounds more.”
